Former Defense Secretary and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro supports the resolution in the Senate for a single ticket system or tandem vote for president and vice president as this will push for the strengthening of party politics in the country.

“The solution is not merely to have a vote for the president being the vote for the vice president, but also the strengthening our political party system so people vote via bona fide parties and not on personalities solely,” Teodoro said during the CNN Philippines Senatorial Forum.

Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman and the 1989 bar topnotcher, said through strengthening the political party structures in the country, the policy agenda of the party will be promoted rather than personalities themselves.

Teodoro added that the single ticket system, at least for the top two national positions, will give a synergistic element in governance. “If you cannot generate that kind of synergy, then governance and progress for the country will be difficult to achieve,” he said.

Gibo Teodoro said his political affiliation is important in his bid for a senate seat as his seven pillars and agenda need synergy both from the national and local government levels.
