DND, ResCom join forces in tree planting activity for Civil Service Month, highlighting environmental commitment

September 13, 2024 (Tanza, Cavite)* — In line with the celebration of the anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service Commission (PCSC) and the 2024 Civil Service Month this September, the Department of National Defense (DND) participated in a tree planting activity in Camp Mariano Riego de Dios on Friday.

The 124th anniversary of the PCSC coincides with the 85th anniversary of the DND this 2024. The tree planting activity is among the events slated to mark the DND’s commitment to the welfare of the Filipino people and the environment.

Major General Romulo A. Manuel Jr. PA, Commander of the Reserve Command, Philippine Army (ResCom), conveyed his heartfelt gratitude through Brigadier General Samuel B. Manzano PA to the Department for selecting ResCom as the venue for this significant environmental initiative.

“Our efforts today manifest our dedication to protecting and nurturing the environment, just as we protect and serve our nation,” MGen Manuel said.

“The command will remain ready to support the overall guidance and direction of the Department of National Defense in ensuring the security and well-being of our country and its people,” he added.

Present at the tree planting drive were DND Chief Administrative Service Director Reno P. Tolentino, students from the Probationary Officer Training Course (POTC), on-the-job trainees from the Tanza National Trade School, and ResCom personnel, along with civilian human resource staff of the Department.
