GIBO: PPP projects to help slowdown national debt

April 3, 2022

Former Secretary of National Defense and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro believes that pursuing more public-private partnership (PPP) projects, especially in infrastructure, will help in slowing down the government’s borrowings from foreign sources.

Gibo Teodoro said PPP programs will allow the private sector to infuse their capital on critical infrastructures identified by the government that will support industry growth and economic expansion. This, Teodoro said, will eventually generate jobs and livelihood opportunities for Filipinos.

“It is timely that the next administration will push for more PPP projects in order to continue vital developments without much borrowing from foreign sources. The private sector has the capital, and they are ready to invest once they see these opportunities,” the former Tarlac congressman and 1989 Bar topnotcher said.

Gibo Teodoro, who has vast experience in both the public and private sectors, said the enactment into law of the amendments to the Foreign Investment Act and the Public Service Act will also boost foreign investors’ participation in PPP projects.
