GIBO pushes for emerging and disruptive technologies

December 29, 2021

Former Defense Secretary Gilberto (GIBO) Teodoro, Jr. encourages the government and private sector to invest in emerging and disruptive technologies. He said that by doing so, the government will have the ability to respond promptly to crisis situations such as the pandemic and cyber security threats while the private sector can revolutionize how we commonly do things with the desired outcome that is improving the living conditions of Filipinos.

Gibo Teodoro, who has key experience in various private companies and industries, explained that disruptive technologies are innovations that considerably modify the way consumers, industries, or businesses operate. These technologies change the systems or habits it replaces with superior features.

Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, said that you have to have a stake to be a participant in development and progress. He said the government, no matter what quality of hardware they have, must have the institutional capability in terms of human capital to be innovators.

Likewise, Gibo said that the private sector must be incentivized to the fullest degree through the government. This sector must undergo intense education and venture in research and development oftentimes without certainty and outcomes.
