GIBO supports the hiring of displaced teachers in public schools

March 29, 2022

Former Secretary of National Defense and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro said displaced private school teachers should be prioritized in hiring in public schools, which will help in easing the teaching loads of teachers and reduce the pupil-teacher ratio in public schools.

Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, said that this is a win-win solution for retrenched teachers due to private school closures during the pandemic, and for public school teachers that are now doing hybrid type of teaching as the country is now in a new normal.

Gibo Teodoro added that due to the impact of the pandemic on household income, there are parents that transferred their children from private to public school.

The 1989 bar top notcher pointed out that adding more teachers in public schools means redistribution of students to other classes that will be handled by newly hired instructors.

“I support providing higher allocation of resources for education, especially in hiring more teachers in our public schools. The government should ensure quality education for the youth, and that could be done by properly taking care of our teachers – giving them reasonable teaching loads while also increasing their pay,” Gibo Teodoro said.
