GIBO urges WPS-related Education
January 19, 2022Former Defense Secretary Gilberto (GIBO) Teodoro, Jr. said that there is a need for Filipinos to be educated on the West Philippine Sea (WPS) issue. He said that we have to be thought as to what belongs to the Philippines, whether territory or rights, which are different, and what does not belong to the Philippines or what the Philippines has a claim on.
Gibo Teodoro, a lawyer and the 1989 Bar Topnotcher, said that due to the lack of the right information and details there are expectations that we own something but in truth and in fact we do not. He said that the WPS is a diplomatic and security concern and not a partisan political issue. It is unfortunate, he added, that some individuals and groups are using the issue for their political ends.
Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, said that our experts should start studying the concern, determine how to cascade these realities to our people, and that schools may perhaps teach this.
Gibo Teodoro, a senatorial candidate, said we must find a way to move forward where we will find a balance between the respect for our integrity as a state that international law recognizes, and as an economic partner of other countries – as a recipient of goods and services and a supplier of the same.
