GIBO wants PH foreign policy handled by career experts
March 18, 2022Former Secretary of National Defense and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro said the country’s foreign policy will be more stable if it is handled by career experts in the government and not in the hands of politicians.
Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, said that because of geopolitical tensions across the world, foreign policy has become a complex matter that should be carried out by experts from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of National Defense (DND).
“Our career experts from DFA and DND should be the ones guiding our political leaders on what should be our foreign policy. This is a concern of national security and of national interest that shouldn’t be politicized,” the 1989 Bar top notcher said.
Gibo Teodoro said that the country should push for an independent foreign policy but alliances with nations that have the same vision as the Philippines will help in ensuring national security.
“In the field of foreign affairs, our national interests must come first,” Gibo Teodoro said.
