Former Defense Secretary and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro aims to strengthen the structure of the political party system in the country in order to help voters to wisely choose their next leaders.

“Political parties should go beyond a gathering of personalities,” Teodoro said. “They should serve as think tanks that can provide studies about legislations that they are pursuing based on their parties’ principles.”

Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, added that a strong party politics will likewise push politicians to be loyal to their political parties as they are pursuing a common ideology.

In order to strengthen the party politics, the senatorial aspirant said political parties should be sustainable by allowing political parties to have sources of funding like donors, business community, and other sources of funding except for foreign sources. Political parties must be transparent on their sources of funds.

Gibo Teodoro, a lawyer and the 1989 Bar topnotcher, bats for the scrapping of spending limits of political parties during campaigns but expenses must be fully disclosed to the public.
