QUEZON CITY, October 31, 2025 – Philippine Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. and Canadian Minister of National Defence Hon. David McGuinty will hold a bilateral meeting in Makati City, Metro Manila on Sunday, November 2, 2025, highlighting the deepening defense partnership between the two nations.

Following the meeting, Secretary Teodoro and Minister McGuinty will sign the Philippines-Canada Status of Visiting Forces Agreement (SOVFA), the negotiations for which concluded earlier in March this year.

The high-level defense engagement underscores the Philippines’ commitment to expand the country’s security partnerships, pursuant to President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s directive to strengthen international ties to promote regional peace and stability.
