Former Secretary of National Defense and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro recommends continuing to provide targeted support for the sectors that were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gibo Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, said the country is still in the phase of stabilizing its health situation and economic and jobs recovery.

“Dalawang phase po iyan – makatawid tayo, dahil ang usaping pangkalasuguan ay nasa harap pa rin natin. Kailangan pa siguro ng kaunting panahon upang mag-stabilize ang health situation,” Gibo Teodoro said in an interview on DZRH. “Tinangnan natin kung magkaka-surge ulit. Kung wala, nakahanda ang mga conglomerates at iba pang negosyo na magbitaw ng kapital para mag-umpisa po muli ang private sector.”

“Ngayon kapag po nangyayari iyon (surges), walang tayong magagawa kun’di ipagpatuloy ang assistance na binibigay ng pamahalaan lalong-lao na sa mga mahihirapan na sector ng ating lipunanan. Wala pong choice diyan,” he said.

Gibo Teodoro proposes that the current and the next administration should have collective decisions and identify immediate measures in order to keep the measures in place at the start of the next administration.
