GIBO pushes for trainings to address jobs mismatch

Former Secretary of National Defense and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro bats for more training programs to address jobs mismatch in the country, as new technologies have increased demand for new skills among the workforce.

Gibo Teodoro, former Tarlac representative and 1989 Bar topnotcher, said that the pandemic has accelerated digital transformation and other innovation that would require new skills to continue meeting the demand for jobs of the future.

“We need to prepare our workforce for the jobs of the future by upskilling and reskilling our employees to acquire new skills demanded by industries,” Gibo Teodoro said. “Through trainings, we aim to bridge the gap and reduce job mismatch.”

The senatorial candidate added that job mismatch can be addressed by reforming the curriculum to include programs that will help students to acquire in-demand skills and promote life-long learning framework for those that already in the labor force.

“Training programs will help our workforce to keep pace with the emerging demand for new skills. Acquiring new skills will also open more career opportunities for Filipinos,” Gibo Teodoro said.
