Former Defense Secretary and senatorial candidate Gilbert (GIBO) Teodoro urged the National Task Force Against Covid-19 to accelerate vaccination drive in provinces with tourist destinations as the country relaxes travel protocols for foreign visitors.

“As we open our doors to foreign tourists, the government should boost its vaccination program in tourist destinations across the country to protect our local residents from Covid-19 as we expect influx of travelers in these areas,” Gibo Teodoro said.

“We don’t expect our tourists to stay in Metro Manila, where vaccination rate is high and health facilities are available. These tourists will be visiting areas which probably still have low vaccination rate and some people still have hesitancy on Covid-19 vaccines,” he added.

Gibo Teodoro recommended to identify tourist destinations with high vaccination rate and promote these areas for foreign travelers to visit.

“It is a win-win solution. We give confidence to our foreign travelers that the places they will visit here are highly-vaccinated areas while we also encourage our people in tourist areas to get their Covid-19 vaccines as they will be promoted by the government to foreign tourists,” the former Tarlac congressman added.
